2015 MTV VMAS DELIVERED NOISE AND DRAMA WITH MILEY CYRUS

Miley Cyrus concluding 2015 MTV VMAs with performance and drag show

The MTV Video Music Award’s host this year was Miley Cyrus. The former Disney star and infamous weed-smoking rebel, had previously made headlines at the VMAs in 2014 when she performed with Robin Thicke and did some unusual things to a foam finger. While she stood clear of any foam fingers, the singer made up for it by combining a number of bizarre, sequin outfit changes with references to marijuana and a drag show, which concluded the award show with a dramatic finale.

Another highlight came very early in the night, when Nicki Minaj brought out Taylor Swift during her opening performance. The two pop divas had recently engaged in a Twitter war concerning VMAs and its selection processes. But all feuds behind, the two made up on stage, smiles and all.

Taylor Swift + Nicki Minaj
Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj sharing a moment on stage

Speaking of Nicki Minaj, that wasn’t the only shocking moment the rapper had on stage. Following her acceptance speech for winning the Best Hip Hop Video for “Anaconda,” Minaj turned the screen back to Miley Cyrus by saying, “And now back to this bitch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press – Miley, what’s good?” In reference to Nicki and Taylor’s disagreement, Miley made negative comments about Nicki’s involvement in the feud. Some thought it was staged, others thought it may be real. No one was quite sure though. Taylor’s night only got better, as she dominated awards shows with a number of moon man trophies, designed by Jeremy Scott.

The rest of the night seemed to go pretty smoothly, up until Justin Bieber broke down in tears after his performance. The singer had returned to the VMA stage after a 9-year absence.  Then it was Kanye West‘s time to shine. The rapper was in attendance to accept the Video Vanguard Award given to an astounding artists to break boundaries in the creative field. After receiving the award from former enemy, Taylor Swift – whom he infamously shamed at the 2009 VMAs – the artists went on a rant. In true Kanye fashion the rant included jabs at MTV, the media, and not to mention, the fact that he concluded his speech by announcing his running for the 2020 Presidential Elections.

All in all, the 2015 MTV VMAs had a list of great performances, make ups, feuds, rants, and Miley Cyrus just being Miley. Take a look at the winners below.
