EIGHT TRENDS THAT HAVE NO PLACE IN 2014

To be very blunt: some trends should’ve never even started. Whether or not half of the population clings onto them, trends always come and go. The Untitled Magazine has put together a list of trends from 2013 that definitely need to end.

1. Beanies

Beanies were created to keep our heads warm during the cold winter months. Many people, including various celebrities like Rihanna (above), have taken the winter accessory and incorporated it into their wardrobe year round.  Not only does a wool beanie look out of place during the summer, it looks even more ridiculous when you’re profusely sweating in it! Please, keep your beanies in storage and use only for the cold.

2. Designer parody t-shirts

A huge trend in streetwear this year was the play on designer names splattered across shirts, hats, and on the rear of sweatpants. The trend became so big that even some celebrities jumped on the bandwagon. Our advice? Save the $30 that the faux shirt costs and save up for a real designer label in 2014.

3. Round sunglasses

Sunglasses should be a staple in everyone’s wardrobe. Round sunglasses, however, should not be involved in anyone’s wardrobe. Unless John Lennon rises from the dead, please keep these unflattering specs hidden.

4. Wedge sneakers

Last year, we saw wedge sneakers creeping into the fashion world, but it wasn’t until earlier this year that the trend blew up. Celebrities, designers, models, even the girl walking down the street – everyone was invested in the wedged tennis shoe. Although they may be comfortable and give you the height boost that you so desire without having to wear heels, the shoes are in a dire need of fading away.

5. Floral pants

Is it just us or does a group of women wearing floral pants just remind us of a Florida retirement community? This trend may have seemed like a good idea in theory, but to resemble your 70 year old grandmother who happily retired to Florida… not so much.

6. Cut-out dresses

This year, the red carpets were occupied by many a cut-out dress. The trend was great while it lasted and, even though we were gifted with the sight of Gwenyth Paltrow’s abs, we’d appreciate a change of scenery in 2014.

7. Outlandish-colored hair

Demi Lovato jumped on this trend just as the year is coming to a close, but we will stand our ground on this one. As much as we love blue, green, violet, and even yellow rainbow colored hair this trend has seen it’s day, now that everyone has done it – let’s move on!

8. “Grillz”

Rappers Paul Wall and Nelly may have had a hit single about the mouth piece back in 2006, but it wasn’t until seven years later that female celebrities like Madonna, Rihanna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Miley Cyrus were flashing diamonds in their teeth. This trend is tacky and, quite frankly, looks ridiculous.
