New York Times best-selling author Neil Gaiman (Sandman, American Gods) and international recording artist Amanda Palmer have released a three-disc set, titled An Evening With Neil Gaiman & Amanda Palmer. To celebrate its release, Gaiman and Palmer will perform a two-night stint at NYC’s Town Hall. It will be the first time the couple officially perform together in New York (the second show was added after the first sold out to overwhelming demand).
The duo previously dropped the wildly entertaining “Makin’ Whoopee” live video and unveiled An Evening With… album cut, “Judy Blume”. A pained love-letter to an author who Palmer claims influenced her songwriting deeply, the track had not previously been made available to the public.
In 2011, Palmer and Gaiman – recently married – decided to tour the West Coast, performing together for six nights reading and singing, meeting each other’s fans and answering questions from the audience. Requests for the shows to be recorded resulted in their first crowdfunding experiment; they went to Kickstarter to raise the money, made 666% more than they asked for. The two were then able, in Spring 2012, to release a three-CD set, bonus CDs and digital material to their 3873 backers. The material has never been available to the general public until now.
An Evening With Neil Gaiman & Amanda Palmer is available on iTunes now.
