amfAR‘s sixth annual Inspiration Gala recently took place at Spring Studios in New York to celebrate their work in the fight against AIDS. Miley Cyrus, who recently came out as bisexual and has been a long-time advocate for LGBT rights, brought Tyler Ford as her date. Ford is an an agender queer biracial person who uses the pronouns “they/them/theirs” according to Cyrus’s Instagram. They formerly appeared on Oxygen’s “The Glee Project.” Cyrus was recognized along with Bravo talk show host Andy Cohen for their work in the fight against AIDS. She wore a custom red Moschino gown.
Along with the speeches, the night included a laid back men’s wear runway show, complete with vogueing and a model wearing a ball gag. Attendees included Alexander Wang, Laverne Cox, and Anderson Cooper among others, with a performance by Mary J. Blige. An auction included a Mr. Brainwash painting donated by Kate Moss and three bedazzled and signed framed Caitlyn Jenner covers created by Cyrus, that went for $69,000.
amfAR is dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and the advocacy of AIDS-related public policy.
