For this fall and winter, brands like Dior, Coach and Prada presented natural, relaxed hair styles for their resort collections. Rather than the pin-straight locks, intricate up-dos or false bangs we usually see on the runway, these brands are celebrating the simple, messy ponytail and wavy bob.
GOING NUDE (FOR YOUR LIPS, THAT IS)
Bold, matte lip colors rarely graced the runway for any of the resort collections we’ve seen. Instead, soft, natural nudes and pinks are being used to enhance the overall makeup-free makeup look that seems popular amongst classic labels like Burberry, Dior and Prada. With a subtle shine gloss, this lip color added a bohemian, summer vibe to the collections.
Whether it’s bold brows, slightly-feathered brows or no brows, several resort collections made one thing clear: a strong brow is a statement in 2020. For many collections, an unpolished brow added to the more natural tone of their overall beauty looks. For presentations like Gabriela Hearst’s, this statement was made with a completely bare brow bone.
Brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton opted for a more dramatic look while still managing to keep their makeup bold, yet simple. One-toned smokey eyes paired with similarly colored cheeks kept models looking fresh and light despite the bright, saturated colors. Other brands that went for the completely natural look tended to stay true to one-toned nudes and pinks for eyes, cheeks and lip color.
CHOOSE A FEATURE
Tory Burch, Burberry and Coach all presented natural, “no makeup makeup” looks. Paired with simple hairstyles, the clothes were the focal point of their resort presentations. However, Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and others ran with bolder, brighter beauty trends. They managed to do this without overshadowing their clothing by selecting one aspect of the model’s beauty look to highlight. An orange lip with a clean face, a vibrant pink blush with a nude lip and teased hair with simple makeup rounded out these shows.
