White Box Gallery announces the opening of Berlese Funnel, a collection of works by Andrew Sutherland, Édouard Nardon, and Evan Robarts. The exhibit, curated by Ana C. Garcia, will focus on conceptual approaches to use of medium and its interaction with meaning. Matter is arranged with an intuitive spatial concept, reviving formal classical elements in material based contemporary forms. The intersection of current objects with rational ordering produces a timeless oeuvre an ability to convey energy of the physical and creative process.

By allowing laws of nature, chance, and unpredictable materials to dictate the form and composition of his work, Andrew Sutherland has created organic austere paintings and sculptures which honor systems that structure our surrounding, while containing formal classical elements such as composition, balance, and symmetry.

The poetic work of Édouard Nardon has liberated itself from the constraints of traditional space. The materials in his balanced installations are delicate personal relics charged with meaning. His classical choreography of form and space captures fragile moments that provide narrative and context in relation to their classical academic arrangement.

Evan Robarts also takes a conceptual approach to his use of medium and challenges form by demonstrating its unstable nature. Matter undergoes an indirect transformation in his hybrid work by shifting a three dimensional imprint into a flat plane, calling into question use of materials and their transfer in relation to the physicality of spatial dimension.
