THE BLACKY DRESS FASHION SHOW
July 6, 2012
The “Summer of Love” was felt throughout the BLACKY DRESS runway show as models paraded to a remixed “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)”. Kaleidoscopic and pixelated prints, funnel necklines, massive eyelashes and pin straight hair brought a post-modern mod look to the collection. Orange was a dominant colour with mid-length trench coats, leather jackets and full length jumpsuits. Drawstring waistbands allowed for a loose sex appeal leading to the final look: a sheer mint, pleated maxi skirt topped with a metallic gold vest.
The collection was a mix between tender and tough—a recurring theme at Berlin Fashion Week. In particular, BLACKY DRESS designs never seemed too trendy or over-styled, but designed to give off a more understated cool and inconspicuous sexiness.
Head of design Kirsten Albers studied fashion design at the well-known Hamburg Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften.
