Christian Siriano New York FW2016

Christian Siriano, recently interviewed by The Untitled Magazine’s Indira Cesarine for Fashion One TV, held a February 13th fashion show that was inspired by American artist Sheila Hicks’s yarn and knit-based works and the influence is clear. Located at Artbeam Studios on West 21st Street, Siriano surprised with knits creatively developed in a structured way, yet holding on to his elegant touch. Chunky yarns in unique colors paired with signature Siriano billowing skirts and wide leg trousers gave a romantic, cozy feel to the collection. What wasn’t an actual knit, looked just as realistic through modern screen printings of the textures onto formfitting dresses, that were split at the hem into pleats. Opposing the comfort of the knits were tailored evening dresses and menswear inspired suits. Bright reds and buttery yellows complimented a mainly gray line. For Siriano, the standouts of the collection remained his evening gowns, fit for any red carpet event. A jaw dropping, billowing yellow number was a swoon worthy favorite.
