On February 26th, Diesel Black Gold returned to the Milan runway leaving New York City and some of its industrial grittiness behind. Andreas Melbostad’s Fall/Winter collection for the brand showcased a more polished Diesel; denim, leather, and outerwear staples remained but with surface updates. Quilting was the go-to embellishment, hems were slightly longer, and a serious black, navy, and white color palette spoke to a more sophisticated, but still hip customer.
Of the move to Milan, Melbostad explained, “There’s definitely a new energy in the city and it seemed the right move for the brand to be closer to an international audience of buyers and press. Also, being able to directly and quickly access the Italian supply chain gives you more control on quality and execution, focusing more on the collection.”
