Returning to the studio together after 2010’s ‘Love The Way You Lie’, Eminem and Rihanna have unleashed their latest duet, ‘The Monster’. The super-hyped track features on the Grammy and Oscar-award-winning artists upcoming project The Marshall Mathers LP 2, due out on Aftermath and Interscope Records on November 5. Eminem’s team decided to premier the brand new track through his own Sirius station, Shade 45.
This is the latest snippet from the album unveiled by Mathers in the past few months, with big sound banger ‘Berserk’, fierce single ‘Survival’ and radio-ready ‘Rap God’. With his brand new album ready to drop next week, there’s never been a better moment to bring out the big guns with a surefire Rihanna chartbuster.
Quite genuinely a booming monster of a tune, the lyrics follow the media-plagued duo through their struggle with fame, Ri-Ri making peace with “the monster under my bed,” while Slim Shady “wanted the fame, but not the cover of Newsweek.” The tune is the biggest break for 22-year-old songwriter Jon Bellion, who according to MTV, pitched the tune to Shady Records after working on it with producers Frequency and Alias for their artist newcomer Bebe Rexha. It was a big gamble, but Shady Records (and Shady himself) jumped on it.
