Fashion Fringe’s three finalist designers who showed at London Fashion Week this year, Wang Haizhen, Teija Eilola and Vita Gottleib, all put together impressive collections. Wang’s winning catwalk featured pieces that drew inspiration from Japanese amour, with severe, architectural outerwear and helmet-like headpieces, asymmetrical, rouched black gowns punctuated by grey side panels and a pair of cobalt blue trousers with a matching wide-collared jacket. Teija Eiloa’s styles were dominated by beiges, nudes and greys, with impeccably tailored mackintosh trenches and most notably, a cream colored silk gown featuring intricately beaded shoulder pads. Vita Gottleib’s collection, taking cues from the lush, colorful motifs of the East, showcased flowing silk maxi skirts in prints inspired by Asian myth, form fitting cocktail dresses following suit, and accomaniying shrugs in dark reds and turquoises, constructed with cone-like adornments, to resemble strange and exotic fruit.
