Giambattista Valli’s latest collection was meant as a sentimental “Thank You” to the city that he calls home after it’s recent encounter with terrorism: Paris. The designer paid homage to the city’s celebrated gardens, such as the Parc de Bagatella, the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Palais-Royal, confirming “You know that flowers are my obsession.”
Among the collection were plenty of pretty-as-a-picture mini dresses with floral embellishments, cascading cape detailing, and organza ruffles. These designs are sure to be seen on young Hollywood starlets for premieres and film festivals in a short matter of time.
Similar to other designers this season, Valli also featured dramatic full skirts, hi-lo hemlines and off-the-shoulder details. Hemlines ranged, yet dramatics remained as stripy shoed models walked the runway.
Also re-appearing were several tulle dresses, sure to be featured on the red carpet circuit later this year. After all, who can forget how many column inches Lena Dunham’s powder-pink tulle skirt generated at last year’s Emmys?
