GIAMBATTISTA VALLI – PARIS F/W 2012 FASHION SHOW
Giambattista Valli has fallen, “in love with New York all over again,” and he’s channeled this passion into his Fall 2012 collection. Valli’s excitement comes from having just opened a showroom by the High Line, and so he wanted his Fall collection to represent a “Nolita Girl gone uptown for a walk in Central Park with the dog.” The looks abandoned Valli’s usual soft, bubbly femininity in favor of more severe, constructed, color-blocked pieces. Art Deco prints, in pops of red and orange, broke up more tailored, urban looks, and provided a sense of continuity in the collection, whether it was used on cinched-waist, chiffon cocktails dresses, or utterly modern, structured tunics.
