HOT PROPERTY @ PROPERTY – NEW YORK – MAY 20

PROPERTY kicked off the 25th annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) with its “HOT PROPERTY” themed event, highlighting design vignettes for summer curated by owners Sabrina Schilcher and Ondine Harris. It also celebrates the launch of top Italian design house, Casamania’s, first-ever US “Shop in Shop”. Cocktails courtesy of Smirnoff and wine by Sterling Vineyards Napa County Sauvignon Blanc. Music by DJ Brion.

Hosted by Jordan Carlyle, Christopher Coleman and Tommy Saleh. Special appearance by star designer Luca Nichetto. Also featuring Lee Broom, Jay Kaplan, William Lee, Mod Mirrors, Myyour, Essent’ial and Schilsan. PROPERTY, the playfully sleek, modern design boutique in Soho that features American and European furniture and accents, reflects the mother and daughter team of interior designers Sabrina Schilcher and Ondine Harris’ love of clean, beautiful shapes and approach of mixing color, interesting objects and vintage artwork with contemporary furniture lines to create a distinctive and fresh environment. Launched in 1999, Property is a destination in the architecture and design community that has become a lifestyle brand. It is a space of inspiration where one can discover new ways to think about their own settings. The duo has not only designed residences, it has collaborated with architects on hotel and store renovations such as the Morgans Hotel Group, Starwood Luxury Collection, Kimpton Hotel Group, Trump World Tower, and W Hotels, as well as projects for 20th Century, Apple, MTV, Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman Equinox, Estee Lauder, Neiman Marcus, Nike, Saks Fifth Avenue, Swarovski, Harvard and Yale Universities, Vera Wang, W magazine, and more. Casamania was born as a Frezza company division in 1984, to create a brand within the Doimo Group that is characterized by an innovative approach in the furniture design – a world able to anticipate future scenarios. Specializing in home and contract environments, Casamania also is known for its development of new shapes and materials that reflect a new vision of furniture as an expression of style, philosophy and personality, Casamania collaborates with some of the most important international designers and of new talents such as Luca Nichetto. It has won several international awards and selections of Casamania design products are placed within the permanent collections at venerable museums. Casamania opened its first showroom in NYC in 2012, and opens its first Shop in Shop at PROPERTY this week.

Born in Venice, Luca Nichetto studied at the Art Institute and the University Institute of Architecture of Venice. Nichetto has been awarded many international prizes and Elle Décor Italy has nominated him as “Designer of the Year 2013”. In addition participating in various design exhibitions in Europe, the U.S and Japan, Nichetto also has been the subject of important retrospective shows mounted in Venice, London, Paris, Stockholm and more often is invited to sit on prestigious juries for a variety of design competitions. Today, Nichetto collaborates with a wide variety of Italian and international companies, including Casamania.

Lee Broom: Leading British product and interior designer Broom has launched numerous furniture and lighting collections, designed over 40 retail, restaurant and bar interiors and has won more than 20 awards including the ELLE Decoration British Design Award for The Crystal Bulb in October 2012 and ‘Designer of the Year 2011/ 2012’ at the British Design Awards in November 2011.
Essent’ial: Essent’ial is an innovative and elegant collection of accessories, characterized by a clean and sober touch. Their linearity makes them necessary complements for home living, office and the leisure time. Jay Kaplan: Kaplan graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1995 with a BA in English. He moved to New York City and spent the next two years as a sculptor for Jeff Koons working on the series “Celebration.” Kaplan’s work in art and design has been described as humorous and irreverent with appealing aesthetics, simple detail, and a very calibrated craftsmanship.
William Lee: Lee is a seasoned and multifaceted designer who is a leader in bringing futuristic ideas to surface. From designing consumer electronics in San Francisco/Silicon Valley to expanding in New York with furniture, lighting, and housewares, his endless creativity has shown that he can easily cross between disciplines.
Mod Mirrors: Mod Mirrors offers a versatile minimalist line of mirrors to complement contemporary furnishing for a great variety of settings: hotels, restaurants, lobbies, public spaces, offices, stores, as well as living rooms, dining rooms, and bathrooms. Mod Mirrors provides custom work for architects and interior designers.
Myyour: A real laboratory of ideas, Myyour is a reality where the most innovative design ideas are chosen and transformed into new and unique decorative solutions that are able to express elegance and color, functionality and aesthetics, versatility and prestige. Their products are best characterized as a perfect blend of craftsmanship and innovation and which is destined to become the protagonist of the most diverse spaces.
Schilsan: Schilsan was established 2009 by New York designers Sabrina Schilcher and Sandra Santos. Creating unique, glamorous lighting collections all handcrafted in the USA, using a wide variety of materials like steel, brass, copper, nickel, fabrics and glass and applying them in unusual ways by creating intricate designs. The new collection will be launched during ICFF, inspired by 60’s and 70’s era — colorful, exciting and breathtaking designs.
