JOANNA MASTROIANNI – NEW YORK – SPRING / SUMMER 2013 FASHION SHOW
Joanna Mastroianni has stated that her inspiration for her SS13 line was her own personal garden, full of what “majestic beauty” and a natural concoction of color. And when her new collection was finally revealed, it was anything but subtle: silk fabrics with gorgeous watercolor prints, simmering every time they caught the catwalk’s spotlight. The collection’s narrative felt even more fully formed when the second half of Mastroianni’s line came strutting down the runway. Maintaining the gorgeous colors from the first few pieces, the latter half started playing around with creative textures, treating a real life, moving garden through the application of astroturf-like material. Mastroianni crafted a complete vision that never compromised in favor of subtly.
