For his first show as artistic director at Roberto Cavalli’s sister label, Just Cavalli, Peter Dundas took us back to the new wave era of New York City. Shown in Milan on February 28th, Dundas emulated a rocker chic vibe, with both the clothing and the runway. The catwalk was a carpet of silver glitter, brightened by the neon signage of pink lips smoking a cigarette hung in the background. British rock band, Black Honey, played throughout the show with lead singer, Izzy Baxter, resembling a modern day Debbie Harry. This less expensive Cavalli label had glam rock ‘n’ roll looks for both genders. Bright colors, prints, embellishments, and leather were staples used on the runway. Male models rocked kicks similar to the ones Duckie wore in the 1980’s classic, Pretty in Pink and sported pink cheetah print, leather pants, and heavy eyeliner. With smokey eyes and fishnets, the ladies completed the collection. All together, it was runway ready for a rock show and of that, we can’t complain.
