This September, Justine Kurland will exhibit her third solo exhibition at Mitchell-Innes & Nash, entitled Sincere Auto Care. Kurland has become notorious for her utopian photographs of American landscapes and small communities, playing with the concept of the real mixed with the imaginative. For this body of work, Kurland returns to a purely documentary style of men working on cars – material from her twelve-year trip on the road. The images represent symbols such as the American Dream, freedom, sex, and daily life.
