Karl Lagerfeld and Shu Uemura, the biggest names in fashion and beauty, are joining forces to create a special one-off Christmas collection.  This collaboration is a no-brainer considering Lagerfeld’s more than twenty years of friendship with the late Mr. Uemura, and the fact that Lagerfeld is an avid customer of the Japanese beauty brand.  Lagerfeld, however, doesn’t use all those Shu Uemura products on himself, instead, he uses their pressed eye shadows to sketch his fashion designs, draw portraits, and even illustrate political cartoons.  He said, “I design with Shu Uemura make-up because other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colours.”  The collection will include seventeen pieces and will be available at Shu Uemura’s 400 international locations just in time for the holidays. The collection will appropriately be called Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura and feature colors hand selected by Lagerfeld as well as packaging he designed.  Lagerfeld has also already photographed the campaign for the beauty line, which will be released shortly.  This is Lagerfeld’s second foray into beauty, previously creating a capsule line of eyeshadows, nail polishes, and accessories for Sephora last November that was only available in France. According to president of Karl Lagerfeld, Pier Paolo Righi, in an interview with WWD, the products with reflect the designer’s “iconic, ironic style.”
