MARC CAIN FASHION SHOW
July 5, 2012
Creative director Karin Veit unveiled Marc Cain’s collection in an offsite show at Hotel de Rome. The setup was a circular runway where models walked around a giant white birdcage—an appropriate scene for a collection titled “Magical Bird”. Backcombed hair, fitted cardigans and mid length skirts in tropical prints gave it a late ’50s holiday look. As the show progressed, models appeared with small birdcages containing colorful neon birds.
Marc Cain is known for standard-setting fine knits, which were neon this season. The company maintains an operating factory in Bodelshausen, Germany where emphasis is placed on the highly modern knitting workshop, the textile machinery, and print shop. The label was founded in Italy in 1973, with Karin Veit as its creative director and chief designer since 1976.
With their first show at Mercedez Benz Fashion Week Berlin, front row saw the likes of German pop star Frida Gold and German model Franziska Knuppe.
