Designer Michael Kors and actress Gwyneth Paltrow have joined forces for a snuggly holiday collection of embellished peacoats, peplum sweaters and cashmere capes. Long-time friends, the duo collaborated on a capsule collection for Paltrow’s lifestyle website, Goop.com. The American designer was graciously amenable to the Oscar winning actress’ request to create a classic, stylish eighteen-piece collection just in time for the festive season.
“I had a dream to tweak/remake some of my favorite MK pieces, which have been in heavy rotation in my closet for years,” 41-year-old Paltrow said in her latest Goop newsletter, heralding the site’s “Kors for celebration” on December 5th.
One of the more popular items within the collection is the gray peplum sweater Paltrow wears in the festive promotional video with Kors, a pleated woollen staple sitting at $950 US. Despite only having been online for a couple of the days, the comfy cashmere cape has already sold out. More collection highlights include a chunky gold watch, cashmere sweaters and a glamorized Michael Kors signature peacoat going for $1,995 US.
Paltrow has collaborated with other designers in the past; the actress has also unveiled assembles with Matthew Williamson and Stella McCartney on her lifestyle site. Paltrow and Kors have been friends for over two decades. Their 2013/14 holiday collection effortlessly came about, considering Paltrow’s appreciation for Michael’s staple on American classics that never go out of style, transitioning from one season to the next.
