The stars gathered for AmfAR’s 7th annual Inspiration Gala New York on Thursday, June 10th, at Skylight at Moynihan Station. Whoopi Goldberg hosted the benefit, which honored Naomi Campbell and Louis Vuitton men’s artistic director, Kim Jones, for their longstanding support of amfAR and the fight against AIDS. Attendees included Leonardo DiCaprio, Zayn Malik, Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, Zac Posen, Victoria Justice, and Kelly Osbourne.
Zayn Malik presented the amfAR Award of Inspiration to Jones, while Wendy Williams presented Campbell with the Award of Inspiration. Campbell, who has supported amfAR for 23 years, dedicated the award to everyone who has been affected by HIV/AIDS. The philanthropic supermodel also said the cure for HIV could come as soon as 2020, due to the work of amfAR. “There’s a long way to go. This is not the end. It’s not even the beginning of the end. But perhaps it’s the end of the beginning,” said Campbell during her acceptance speech.
The black-tie benefit also included special performances by Jason Derulo, whose set included “Trumpets,” “Wiggle,” and “Talk Dirty,” and Nico & Vinz, who sang their hit single “Am I Wrong.” To add to the excitement, the evening included a “Jet-Set”-themed men’s runway show with looks from Acne Studios, Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Salvatore Ferragamo, Valentino, Versace, Missoni, Michael Kors, Kenneth Cole, Louis Vuitton, and more.
The benefit successfully raised $1.2 million for AIDS research initiatives.
