Jean-Michel Basquiat’s 1982 painting “Untitled” broke art auction price records when it sold for $110.5 million at Sotheby’s last year, making it the sixth most expensive work ever sold at auction. The buyer, billionaire collector Yusaku Maezawa, aims to increase the accessibility of art by sharing Basquiat’s famous work with audiences around the world, the first stop being New York’s Brooklyn Museum.

“One Basquiat,” on view from January 26th to March 11th, is the first museum exhibition of “Untitled.” After a world tour, the painting will reside in Chiba, Japan at a museum that Maezawa is currently building.
