Paco Rabanne’s spring/summer line was defined largely by the music that filled the room once the show started: “The Crystal Ship” by the Doors. The gleaming power of crystals and the smooth movement of ships passing gracefully were the perfect images to have settle in before the show started, considering that the garments and the models wearing them flowed with the same type of grace. Sensual textures and deep purples dominated the set, all while showing the models’ silhouette through a host of fabrics (mesh, silicone; dashes of metallic flakes). At 29, Maurer is one of the younger designers to be gracing fashion week. Even at such a young age, he’s crafted something undeniably timeless.
