Rodarte FW16

Kate and Laura Mulleavy looked to the West Coast for inspiration this season. Their University of California, Berkeley, roots brought San Franciscan vibes to their diverse collection which was shown on February 16, 2016. While some looks from Rodarte’s Fall 2016 runway looked straight out of a fairytale, others pushed the wrong buttons, ending in cheap-looking leathers and an onslaught of overwhelming lace. White, whimsical garments included layered ruffles, slips of skin, and unique necklines, fit for a bohemian bride. With intricate beading, some knee-length dresses stood out from the bunch, highlighting a uniquely Rodarte look. Contrasting to the collection’s beauties, were shiny leather details, not only clashing with the lace, but adding an out-of-place texture to the mix. Another unwelcomed look included long haired coats in abnormal colors. While the Mulleavys brought an interesting collection to the 2016 runway, it showed all neighborhoods, rather than just the idyllic ones, of their San Franciscan inspiration.
