Rosie Assoulin’s newest collection, shown in the Meatpacking District on February 15 2016, was made by a millennial for millennials. Though there was no distinguished inspiration for the line, the overall effect was modern, fun, and young. Assoulin, who designed a dress worn by Beyonce in her newly released and much talked about “Formation” video, created looks ranging from day to night and all the times in between. Bright hues of red and orange, vibrant blues, emerald greens, and stark whites were present in structured, tied, fresh silhouettes made of luxurious Italian fabrics. The unique tailoring coupled with the functionality of tying the pieces in multiple ways gave the wearer her own say, truly making this a collection for a younger, creative yet sophisticated generation. Assoulin’s evening gowns were grand and over-the-topwhile her everyday looks had a cool girl vibe that everyone wants to emanate. After a collection like this, current trends have been upped to the next level, and for that we have Assoulin to thank.
