Braids have been around for ages, but these new and innovative ways to sport this traditional hairstyle are less Pippi Longstocking and more runway chic. Try a modern take such as twisted, hairline, and fishtail braids. Get the look: Style and hold those braids with a texture cream, like this, from Jack Black.

Colorful Eyes

This is one of the season’s boldest trends, but we predict this will make a big appearance from the runway to the streets. Both eyeliner and shadows are incorporating this shocking color and we think it is a daring trend worth trying. Get the look: Make those eyes pop with a bright liner like this one, from NARS Cosmetics

“No Makeup” Makeup

We  will be seeing a lot of the fresh faced look this season with minimalist makeup. While fans of this trend will likely still be applying the essentials (tinted moisturizer, mascara, concealer) the goal is to appear as natural and polished as possible. Get the look: To make your face appear naturally flawless try a tinted moisturizer like this, from Laura Mercier.

Seen on the runways at: (from left) Versace, Kate Spade, and Marc Jacobs

2014 is the year we will be seeing 60s trends reemerge both in fashion and beauty. 60s staples such as bouffant hair, bold bangs, and Twiggy lashes were seen a lot in this years fall collections and we think they will be popping up off the runway as well. Get the look: For the 60s makeup look try “Twiggy” inspired lashes like these, from MAC Cosmetics. Add volume to that bouffant hair with a thickening mousse like this, from Bumble and Bumble.

Metallic Eyes
Seen on the runways at: (from the left) Donna Karan, and Dior

Metallic touches of silver and gold to line the eyes really make them stand out. This trend is perfect for highlighting and and contouring a nighttime smokey eye. Get the look: Try a highly pigmented metallic shadow like this, from Bobbi Brown
