SOPOPULAR PRESENTATION
July 4, 2012
The SOPOPULAR presentation, titled “Unsung Heroes” summoned a fashion-forward line up of boys and girls waiting to enter the room. With a smoke machine spewing mist across the floor, the ten male models looked as if they were standing on air. Head of design, Daniel Blechman said he hand-picked models based on faces and postures that evoked the individual elements SOPOPULAR stands for. Blechman spent his childhood in Berlin where he recently returned to after graduating from Richmond University in London. In 2008 Blechment launched SOPOPULAR together with James and David Ardinast with the vision of creating a reduced and pragmatic style of men’s fashion with edgy streetwear elements and futuristic design details.
In an attempt to keep the clothes modern but classic, the designers distanced themselves from trend-chasing or focusing on the current fashion world. Blechman stated that although he wants the brand to be extablished internationally, he always wants to represent Berlin.
