Adding to Dante and Matthew Barney, Patrik Andersson explores the grand themes of life, death and transition in his fast-cut creation myth. Merging a fashion and music video to a high-art level, he suggests that just as we were born and mothered into this life, so must we be reborn and mothered into the next. And these are the sexiest mothers that ever visited purgatory, writhing and supplicating, helping souls to find their way, lending their maternity for rebirth into the next world.
Born 1964 in Gothenburg Sweden, Patrik Andersson came to New York in his early twenties. His clean style and direct vision caught the attention of international creative directors and fashion stylists. Before long, he was featured in Italian, French and American Vogue, Interview, Harper’s Bazaar, W, The Face, New York Times Magazine and Allure.
Commercial clients have included Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, The Gap, H&M, Sony, Casio, AT&T, Island Records, Disney and DreamWorks.
Throughout his career, Patrik has been capturing memorable moments in politics, music, film, art, and the fashion industry. He photographed a large format close-up of President Clinton for the memorial issues of George, Kate Moss’ first W cover, and when Mick Jagger turned fifty, Patrik shot the celebratory cover image for Esquire.
Working in Los Angeles as well as New York he has been a part of creating the image of celebrities such as Lenny Kravitz, Jennifer Lopez, Muhammad Ali, Kate Hudson, Tobey Maguire, Vanessa Paradis, James Cameron, Oliver Stone, Salman Rushdie, Ray Charles, Orlando Bloom, Ben Stiller, Isabella Rossellini, Francesco Clemente, Alicia Silverstone, Gwyneth Paltrow, REM, Kevin Spacey, John Cusack, Bon Jovi, Fiona Apple, Matt Dillon, Mark Wahlberg, Whitney Houstan, Laura Dern, Harry Dean Stanton, David Lynch and many others.
Patrik has added to his personal work with a book containing 25 years of photography, produced by an award winning design team. The images are from projects with small digital cameras to the giant 20×24 inch color negative contact prints made on a journey that covered America. The book also includes much of the fashion and celebrity portraiture for which he is well known.
In addition to print work, he recently wrote and directed a short-film homage to 60’s style European cinema. The expansion to film has resulted in many new projects with the moving image. They range from straight documentary storytelling and industrials to commercials and experimental ambient mash-ups.

Later, he found his way back to fashion, working as the merchandising director for United Colors of Benetton; where he worked directly with Luciano Benetton. His talent began to gain recognition within the industry while he did work for Berliner Magazine. His work has progressed with an ease and elegance, and continues to captivate. Hollywood Undead’s start was hardly momentous. In 2005, two Los Angeles friends, Deuce and J-Dog, collaborated on a few tracks and decided to post them online. But soon, interest started circulating, prompting the guys to form Hollywood Undead with Charlie Scene, Da Kurlzz, Funny Man and Johnny 3 Tears. Originally, the band also included Shady Jeff, but he left the group before their debut dropped in 2008.
