To celebrate his 30 years in the industry, Tommy Hilfiger transformed the Park Avenue Armory into an all-American football field. The catwalk was lined with astroturf, faces lit with stadium lights, and a scoreboard loomed in the distance as New York fashion week hosted its most over the top show of the season.
The collection is inspired by varsity football, in line with the brand’s signature classic American sportswear designs. The looks feature a prep-school vibe of pleated skirts and cable-knit sweaters. For shoes, the models wore wedge heeled football boots and Mary Janes. Leather mini-dresses were adorned with the number 30 in honor of the anniversary. Bomber jackets were paired with matching preppy scarves.
To top it all off, the crowd was seated in bleachers. While the presentation was certainly what one would expect for a 30th anniversary event for Tommy Hilfiger, the football theme was distracting from the ready-to-wear clothing being presented, as if more thought had gone into the set than the actual looks themselves.
