The annual feminist festival, Wonder Women Radical Manchester, returns March 3-13 to celebrate the women’s movement, which was born in Manchester, through film, art, music, walking tours, gallery takeovers, comedy and debates. This year is also important because it continues to focus on the journey to 2018, which will mark the 100 year anniversary of women gaining the partial right to vote.
Over the course of the ten day festival, there will be art exhibits, film screenings, debates, tours, music, and performances all highlighting women in and from Manchester. Most of the events are free to attend while some require purchasing a ticket.
One of the performance events on the list this year is from New York based group, LEGACY FATALE, led by artists Coco Dolle and Shawn Bishop. LEGACY FATALE celebrates the ancient nomadic warrior women of the Amazon and was recently featured in our exhibit “The “F” Word: Feminism in Art” at The Untitled Space in New York. Through dance, they will interpret the female power struggle bridging myth, history and pop culture.
The LEGACY FATALE performance will take place Saturday, March 12th from 6:00pm-12:00am at the ‘Tea Hive’ Pavilion, Alexandra Park, M16 8PJ Manchester. The performance is an 18 and older free event. It is also a part of another festival in Manchester going on March – May 2016, Pankhurst in the Park.
