X CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR – MIAMI ART WEEK 2015

X Contemporary premiered in 2015 at a 28,000 square foot art fair that will featured over 27 exhibitors from the US, Europe and South America. The art fair emphasized a cross-generational conversation in specially curated projects, while considering the historic importance of the trends and cultural influences impacting artists today. To celebrate its inaugural year, X Contemporary exhibited a selection of paintings and collages that represent painter Grace Hartigan’s Abstract Expressionist style as it evolved in the early 60s towards new levels of abstraction and representation. The symbol X represents a destination point and an area of intersection, an evocative title for a new breed of art fair that will emphasize a crossover between the visual arts, fashion and brand collaborations brought together under the direction of Matthew Eck, the former co-director of SELECT art fairs.
