YVES SAINT LAURENT – PARIS F/W 2012 FASHION SHOW
Stefano Pilati’s final collection for Yves Saint Laurent delved into the dark side of the brand presenting a hyper-sexual, almost fetishistic, YSL woman. The almost entirely black collection, featuring a lot of pieces in leather, showcased broad shoulders, tiny waists, and a severe, clean silhouette. The looks paired with Guido Palau’s slicked-back hair and Pat McGrath’s blood-red lips gave a dominatrix-like aesthetic, complimented with calla lilies, the Roman symbol of lust, for a floral accent driving Pilati’s inspiration home. Chain mail cocktail dresses made of metal and rubber that were completely backless were stand-out looks, confirming Pilati’s adept craftsmanship and vision, just as we’re forced to say goodbye.
