The British Fashion Council has revealed the five fresh, new fashion brands who have made the cut for the 2016 Fashion Fund shortlist. Competing for 200,000 pounds, or roughly 284,000 US dollars, as well as a year of mentoring, are Emilia Wickstead, Mother of Pearl, Osman, Prism, and Sophia Webster. The creative bunch have captured the highly coveted spots which will be announced on March 22.
Chosen by British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman, BFC CEO Caroline Rush, Topshop’s Mary Homer, Ian Lewis, Joan Burstein, Lisa Armstrong, BFC ambassador Samantha Cameron, Sarah Manley of Burberry, Farfetch’s Susanne Tide-Frater and designer Victoria Beckham, the winner will jumpstart into London’s fashion world as a need-to-know upcoming brand. The winner will join the ranks of previous winners such as Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto, Nicholas Kirkwood, Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane and Erdem. Shulman has described the shortlist as “inspiring” due to the group’s “diversity.”
