Introducing regal attire with a rebellious twist, Christian Juul Nielsen debuted his Fall/Winter 2025 collection, “Fragmented Royalty,” for AKNVAS during New York Fashion Week. The designer showcased his work at Location05 Studios on February 7, 2025. The collection deconstructs the boundaries of regal garments and changes them into more rebellious shapes, taking inspiration from Danish princesses Alexandra, Dagmar, and Thyna.
Regal Reinvention
“Fragmented Royalty” tells a story within the layers of fabric. One where symbols of grandeur are reshaped into fresh, rebellious forms. Ball gowns have been reimagined as playful bubble hem skirts with delicate bow cinches. Sheer and taffeta gowns flow like “whispers of forgotten dreams,” yet are structured and bold. Each piece maintains the class voluminous shapes but are designed for easy mobility, exploration, and embracing the unknown, rather than for formal dances.
Northern Inspired Textures
Evoking the spirit of untamed northern landscapes, the collection features a range of textures and materials that capture a sense of rugged elegance. Faux mink layers, subtly imprinted with ghostly lynx markings, evoke the mystery of the arctic wilderness, while earthy, snow-dusted tones in the furs further enhance the collection’s connection to the raw beauty of the North. These elements combine to create pieces that feel as though they have been forged in the heart of a wild and beautiful journey.
