Sarah Burton‘s newest collection for Alexander McQueen was a feminine dream with delicate ruffles, sheer knits, detailed embroidery and a ethereal touch. For Burton, the collection was opposite of the tough, punk, edginess for which McQueen was once known. Though a bit of darkness, beauty, and detailing remains, the pieces flowed off the body with grace and softness. Despite being embellished with decals of lips, butterflies, and other cutesy iconography, sheer pieces with lace lingerie peeking out remained overwhelmingly ladylike. A full length sheer number with ruffles was a whimsical dream, while a knew length, see-through dress with billowy sleeves and cutouts also impressed. For Burton, it was a successful collection, highlighting her range of never-ending talents as a designer.
