Ashley Isham’s collection for Spring / Summer 2013 is inspired by “Orphism” and is delicately hand-crafted and hand-draped which juxtaposes with his razor sharp tailoring which is soft, sophisticated and feminine. The Orphism movement was named in 1912 by the French poet Guillaume Apollinaire. Inspired by Sonia Delaunay, a French artist that co-founded the Orphism movement, she is renowned for her use of strong vibrant colours and geometric shapes. The unique visual art is transformed for the SS 13 collection through the development of three contemporary digital prints that give priority to colour, which are Orphism, Summer Bloom and Exotic Blossom. The collection is inspired by the sophisticated professional woman who is modern yet feminine and appreciates fine detailing. It draws particular attention to fifties and sixties couture silhouettes for inspiration with elaborate hand embroideries. The smart yet urban look that loans a rich but solemn air to the clothes is one which will lead the individual from day to evening, with the clean, crisp and modern silhouettes created. With this season striving for more delicate gelato colours such as mint, cotton candy blue, tangerine for liquid jersey while nude, parchment grey and blush for the newly introduced lycra jersey and the velvets which are in vibrant colours of juicy pink, electric blue, sunshine and platinum rose. Ashley Isham uses exquisite materials such as lace, guipure, liquid jersey, crepe, velvet, lycra jersey, jacquard, chiffon, satin and cotton sateen for SS 13. Recognized for his signature draping and razor cut tailoring, Ashley Isham’s distinctive blend of high-octane glamour and contemporary chic has won him an army of followers devoted to his vision and design philosophy.
