Continuing in her winning streak of girl power anthems, Charli XCX has announced a new single “Doing It” featuring fellow British babe Rita Ora. The forthcoming track, produced by Ariel Rechtshaid (Beyoncé, HAIM) and Mr. Rogers is a amped-up spin on the original version of the song. With fuzzy 80’s synths, Charli’s soaring vocals, and an entrancing hook, the Ora-enhanced single dips and dives straight to your heart.
Charli XCX’s sophomore commercial album SUCKER received a wrath of critical acclaim upon its release in America, forcing us to re-imagine our vision of pop music with its rebellious punk streak. The 22-year-old songstress first proved her writing chops with her work on Icona Pop’s global number one 2013 single “I Love It” and the Grammy-nominated hit “Fancy” with Iggy Azalea. She then rose from songwriter to pop star with the release of her very own “Boom Clap“ featured in last year’s film The Fault in Our Stars. Out of the shadows and into the spotlight, the track rocketed Charli XCX to the number one spot. Her follow-up single “Break The Rules” also blew up airwaves around the world, hitting the Top 10 in USA and Australia and selling out US and UK headline tours.
Proven by the dance-your-face-off magic created on Charli and Rita’s pairing on “Doing It,” Miss XCX has excellent taste in co-stars. Be sure to catch her touring with Katy Perry on her ‘The Prismatic” arena tour in February and March.
