CHELSEA STAYS OPEN LATE FOR THE ADAA GALLERY WALK 2026 MAY 14TH

New York’s spring art season continues this week with the return of the ADAA Chelsea Gallery Walk, taking place Thursday, May 14 from 5pm to 8pm. Now in its eighth consecutive year, the free public event invites visitors to explore 37 ADAA member galleries across Chelsea for an evening of exhibitions, openings, walkthroughs, artist receptions, and special programming timed to coincide with the city’s peak art fair week energy.

Stretching from West 27th Street down to West 19th Street, the after-hours program transforms Chelsea into an open-door circuit for collectors, curators, artists, and anyone looking to gallery hop without the pressure of an art fair booth. Galleries will remain open late for one night only, offering a chance to experience some of the city’s strongest contemporary art programming in a more relaxed, community-driven setting.

Among the participating galleries are Pace Gallery, David Zwirner, Hauser & Wirth, Lehmann Maupin, Paula Cooper Gallery, Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, Petzel, Marianne Boesky Gallery, Yancey Richardson, Galerie Lelong, Susan Inglett Gallery, DC Moore Gallery, and many more.

Several galleries are also presenting special events and activations throughout the evening. Pace Gallery will host a conversation around “Paul Thek: Dream of Vanishing” moderated by Andrew Durbin with curator Elisabeth Sussman and artist Alex Da Corte, alongside opening receptions for exhibitions including David Hockney’s “The Moon Room” and Emily Kam Kngwarray’s “The Turning Season.” Gemini G.E.L. at Joni Moisant Weyl will feature live printmaking demonstrations exploring the legacy of Robert Rauschenberg and Richard Serra’s print works.

At Susan Inglett Gallery, visitors are invited to participate in a collaborative chalk activation inspired by Martha Jackson Jarvis’ exhibition “Elsewhere,” while Noha Haime Gallery will host guided walkthroughs of Ruby Rumié’s “How Are the Children?” Casey Kaplan will celebrate a new exhibition by Kevin Beasley, and David Zwirner will host an opening reception for new and recent paintings and works on paper by Lisa Yuskavage.

The event arrives as New York’s art world reaches full momentum around Frieze Week, with fairs, openings, dinners, and performances unfolding across the city. The ADAA Gallery Walk offers a more grounded counterpoint to the intensity of the fairs — less velvet rope energy, more wandering into spaces because the light looked interesting through the window.

For visitors trying to navigate the evening efficiently, the participating galleries are concentrated within a highly walkable stretch of Chelsea, making it possible to move through multiple exhibitions in a single night while catching receptions, artist appearances, and special programs along the way.

The ADAA Chelsea Gallery Walk takes place Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 5pm–8pm. Admission is free and open to the public.
