DE NIRO, NEW YORK: AN IMMERSIVE TRIBUTE TO A CINEMATIC LEGEND AT MERCER LABS
Tribeca Studios is bringing cinema to life in a groundbreaking way with the immersive experience De Niro, New York. Running from June 19 through July 13 at Mercer Labs, Museum of Art and Technology in Lower Manhattan, this unique event celebrates the legacy of actor and Tribeca Festival co-founder, Robert De Niro, in an entirely new format.
Originally premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Festival in honor of De Niro’s 80th birthday, De Niro, New York reimagines scenes from over 40 of De Niro’s films, taking audiences on a cinematic journey like no other. Directed by Sam Gill and Luke Neher, and produced by Tribeca Studios and Little Cinema, the immersive short film combines 360° spatial sound and an original score to create an experience that pulls the audience directly into De Niro’s iconic moments. The film’s use of cutting-edge immersive technology invites visitors to experience De Niro’s celebrated body of work in a new and engaging way.

De Niro, who co-founded the Tribeca Festival alongside producer Jane Rosenthal in 2002, has been instrumental in reshaping the post-9/11 cultural fabric of Lower Manhattan. The Festival continues to push the boundaries of cinematic and immersive storytelling.
