From Kanye to Karl, 2016 is turning out to be a year of “waves.” Seismic swirls were the focus of Lagerfeld’s Fall/Winter Fendi collection on February 25th. The motif showed up in ruffle collars, flouncy shoulders, curly cut-outs, fabulous furs, and stripey prints.
Lagerfeld explained that the singular obsession was somehow related to Albert Einstein’s newly proved theory of gravitational waves but also delivered the Voltaire quip that “What needs an explanation is not worth explaining.” Enough said.
