Milan Fashion Week was covered in black velvet during Giorgio Armani’s Fall/Winter 2016 fashion show on February 29th. From dresses and jackets to full pants and athletic style crops, almost all the pieces had black velvet in some way for Armani’s newest looks. Take an up close look at some of the styles:
Lightening up from black, Armani also incorporated watercolors and florals for this season. Though often paired with velvet fabrics, these pieces stood out in their lighter hues. The collection was a lovely mix of daytime outfits that could easily make it to happy hour. Matching trousers and jackets were work appropriate in a ray of pastels mixed with black velvet. Looks were styled with circular shades and leather bags completing their outfits, and making the functionality of the line a forefront for the viewer. Not forgetting his knack for award ceremony styles, Armani showed evening wear styles, such as sequin embellished strapless gowns, a one shoulder velvet number, and dress with a deep v-neck. Just the day before the show, A-List stars, such as first time winner Leonardo DiCaprio were donning Armani on the red carpet at The Oscars. Other celebrities that also wore the designer that night include Charlotte Rampling, Cate Blanchett, and Naomi Watts.
