HOOD BY AIR – NEW YORK – SPRING/SUMMER 2017 – FASHION SHOW

From vaseline-slicked hair to a PornHub sponsorship, Hood by Air‘s runway show, which presented on September 11th at New York Fashion Week, was anything but expected. Combining sex, business, and athletic inspiration normally would sound like a trainwreck. But it was a piece of art for designer Shayne Oliver.

The button up oxfords were asymmetrical, cut into halters, splashed with the word “Wench”, and more. They were paired with trousers and pleated skirts, continuing his brand of gender nonconformity. There were PornHub logos, plastic pieces, and warnings for children. But perhaps the most standout piece was a light blue, full body, practically clear rain suit with “Don’t trust a church girl” spelled out across the back.

Perfectly tongue-in-cheek, and a continued delight for a whole spread of celebrities and normal folk alike, Hood by Air presented another impactful collection that leaves you questioning but satisfied at the same time.
