INSIDE CHARLES JEFFREY LOVERBOY’S SURREAL SS27 WORLD “AEOLIAN AFTERNOON”
London-based fashion label Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, “AEOLIAN AFTERNOON,” through a digital-first presentation that blends fashion, performance, music, and surreal storytelling into a world that feels equal parts satire and social commentary.
Rather than presenting a traditional fashion show, the latest collection unfolds through a fictional daytime television broadcast hosted by recurring LOVERBOY characters Grom and Lin. Set within what the brand describes as a “soft-apocalyptic media landscape,” the project draws inspiration from everything from David Lynch to British daytime television, constructing an eccentric universe where entertainment, commerce, and identity have become increasingly difficult to separate.
At the center of the narrative is the OGB—the Ominous Growing Brick—a looming symbolic structure representing algorithms, consumer culture, and the constant demand for attention that shapes contemporary life. Against this backdrop, “AEOLIAN AFTERNOON” expands on ideas first introduced in the Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, exploring the tension between analogue craftsmanship and digital overload while celebrating the value of making things by hand.
Visually, the collection continues Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY’s signature gender-fluid approach while introducing what the brand describes as “allergic tailoring”—distorted, twisted silhouettes that transform familiar garments into something deliberately off-kilter. Military and vintage references are reworked with ripped finishes, chemical treatments, handcrafted embellishments, and a Renaissance-inspired color palette created from scans of fruits and vegetables. Denim appears weathered and worn, knitwear embraces imperfection, and reconstructed footwear reinforce the collection’s DIY ethos.
Recurring LOVERBOY signatures also return in unexpected forms, from sculptural layering inspired by Charles Jeffrey No Wave Couture to a growing family of surreal animal bags and artisanal floral beanies. Styled by Charles Jeffrey himself, the maximalist layering becomes less about polish than personal expression, embracing creative chaos over perfection.
Music remains central to the project. Named after the Aeolian minor scale, “AEOLIAN AFTERNOON” launches alongside a new single produced by Tom Furse and Robert Fox. Inspired by the long-form compositions of Terry Riley and the atmosphere of continuous television broadcasts, the soundtrack drifts through the accompanying films like an analogue signal, reinforcing the collection’s dreamlike atmosphere.
Presented across fashion, film, music, and image-making, “AEOLIAN AFTERNOON” reflects Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY’s multidisciplinary approach to storytelling while offering a preview of the brand’s evolving creative direction ahead of its next chapter, which will continue in January 2027.
