On May 7th, The Untitled Space opened its latest group exhibition, “IN FULL BLOOM,” drawing a packed crowd of artists, collectors, curators, and downtown creatives to Tribeca for an opening night that carried well beyond the gallery walls.

Curated by artist and gallery founder Indira Cesarine, the exhibition brings together 34 women artists whose work engages floral and botanical imagery as a lens for transformation, identity, embodiment, and power. Spanning painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, installation, and performance, the show reclaims florals from their long-standing association with decoration and passivity, reframing them instead as symbols of resilience, emotion, sensuality, and self-definition.

The energy throughout the evening felt electric, with conversations flowing between artists and guests as the gallery filled wall-to-wall throughout the night. The opening drew a strong turnout from New York’s contemporary art community, with many of the exhibiting artists in attendance, including artist and curator Indira Cesarine, alongside Annika Connor, Caitlin McCormack, Elena Chestnykh, Heather V McLeod, Helena Calmfors, Katie Cercone, Katty Huertas, Lisa Petker Mintz, Logan White, Mia Brownell, Natalie Wood, Sarah Meyers Brent, Sarah Nicole, and Tabitha Whitley, among others.

Rather than treating flowers as simply decorative motifs, the artists featured in “IN FULL BLOOM” use botanical imagery in ways that feel deeply personal, psychological, surreal, and at times confrontational. Across the exhibition, florals become extensions of the body, carriers of memory, symbols of reinvention, and reflections on femininity, vulnerability, and strength.

Works throughout the exhibition move between dreamlike figuration, abstraction, immersive installation, and layered mixed-media practices, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and expansive. The result is a show that embraces beauty while pushing beyond surface aesthetics, exploring the emotional and conceptual visual language of florals in contemporary art.

In Cesarine’s curatorial statement for the exhibition, she notes: “‘IN FULL BLOOM’ challenges the idea of the flower as passive and fragile, instead positioning the botanical as a site of agency—where narratives of identity and transformation unfold.”
