JEAN PAUL GAULTIER – HAUTE COUTURE
Gaultier’s pieces in this collection evoke an aura of decadence–reminiscent of the Belle Epoque–while also nodding to the Baroque period. Men in corsets and gold and black “Chaplin” hats and turbans made for illustrious musings as to the source of his inspiration. It was like an eclectic reverie of eras and topsy-turvy conceptions. A range of styles and layers are present in this collection and the color palette provided the bed in which they lay together (primarily purple and gold), along with black–appropriately referred to as “the color of the poets”.
