London Collections: Men is the UK’s biggest showcase of menswear. This year’s A/W15 took place from January 9 – 12, and featured such returning brands as Alexander McQueen, Burburry Prorsum, Margaret Howell, Moschino, Paul Smith, Tom Ford and TOPMAN. New editions included Alex Mattsson, Aquascutum Men’s, Barbour, Coach, Kilgour, MR PORTER presents Kingsman, Nigel Cabourn, Private White V.C., Several, Soulland, Todd Lynn and Universal Works.
Since its inception, it has become a staple of the Men’s fashion scene, and it supports a growing market of designers, with each edition getting larger and larger, even inspiring the idea of a New York Men’s Fashion “week.” The UK menswear market grew by 18% between 2008 and 2013 to reach £12.9 billion in 2013. The three-day event has expanded into a four-day affair, with Dylan Jones OBE, Chair of London Collections: Men and Editor of British GQ commenting on the growing event schedule: “I always said we’d stick to three days, but with so much interest from the UK and international menswear industry it was becoming impossible to fit any more onto what was already a very impressive, yet very packed schedule.” He attributed the success of the UK’s menswear sector to “a very British culture of discourse between the fashion industry and the broader creative industries.”
