MARC PHILIPPE COUDEYRE PRESENTATION
July 6, 2012
Marc Philippe Coudeyre’s SS 2013 Collection entitled “Paradise Lost” was a studio presentation that took guests to the remote islands of the Pacific. With the sounds of Belgian electro acoustic duo Joy Wellboy, the bit of silver tinsel and ceiling lighting created the mood of a tropical oasis.
Twenty-five looks were presented in innovative fabrics like enzyme-washed silk, lurex jacquards and silk lace, styled in applicable combinations with of cigarette pants, draped tops and embellished jackets. With flower wreaths in models’ hair, palm prints, and hues that ranged from soft pink to intense red, the collection was playful with an injection of resort glamour.
The French-German designer, Coudeyre grew up in many different countries such as Indonesia, United Arab Emirates and Colombia. This cross-culture lifestyle is seen in his collections, which reinvent classic ready-to-wear while maintaining a special French touch. Coudeyre’s ability to reference and reinvent classic shapes could be attributed to his previous architectural studies in Barcelona. He joined the Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp and since then has been awarded numerous honors, such as the Tommy Hilfiger Prize, Lancom’s “Modern Feminity” award and the Dolce and Gabanna Spiga 2 Project.
