The Met Gala serves two purposes: one, it raises funds for the Costume Institute. Two, celebrities and socialites get the chance to dress up in the most dramatic gala-wear according to each year’s theme. The Met Gala 2019’s theme was “Camp” – an abstract concept that several celebs failed to actualize. While there were looks that were” too cute” or “too pretty” subsequently deeming them boring (i.e. Miley Cyrus, Karlie Kloss), the celebs/socialites that did venture out on the first Monday of May in over-the-top satirical, ironic looks made the 2019 Met Gala an an eye-candy feast for the rest of us. Lady Gaga took the throne – she didn’t change once or twice. She changed her outfit a record of four times, ending in bedazzled lingerie and embodying the true meaning of camp: over-the-top sarcasm.
