MICK ROCK’S ROCKY HORROR: A NIGHT OF GLAM, GLITTER, AND LEGENDARY ICONS IN NYC

The legacy of Mick Rock — “the man who shot the seventies” — came vividly back to life in New York City on Tuesday, October 14th, with a VIP celebration for the release of MICK ROCK’S ROCKY HORROR: A Behind the Scenes Look at the Cult Classic, published by HarperPop. Presented by The Estate of Mick Rock, HarperPop ALG Brands, FeralCat Productions, and Morrison Hotel Gallery, the event transformed the sleek Seven24 Collective Private Membership Club at the Gansevoort Hotel into a world of glam rock nostalgia and cinematic decadence.

In honor of The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s 50th anniversary, guests were transported into Rock’s universe of rebellion and excess — surrounded by a curated selection of his rarely-seen photographs from the set of the cult classic. Red lights bathed the crowd in a disco haze as music by The Misshapes, Miss Guy, and Dovemother set the tone for a night that blurred the line between art and performance. A live show by Michael T & The Rocky Horror Show Troupe ignited the dance floor, while guests sipped themed cocktails like “The Riff Raff” and “The Strange Journey Margarita.”

Among the notable attendees celebrating Rock’s enduring influence were rapper and producer G-Eazy, photographers Ellen von Unwerth, Bob Gruen, and Mary Ellen Matthews, nightlife icons Legendary Damon and Dianne Brill, and cultural figures including Suzi Ronson, Pati Rock, George Wayne, Peter Davis, Jihae, Thomas Hayo, Jill Stuart, Jean Stone, Alisa Torres, and a host of New York’s downtown fashion, art, and music luminaries such as Alexa Dark, The Muses, Erik Foss, Nate Turbow, Dillon Storey, Sarah Orloff, Emma Snowdon-Jones, and UNTITLED’s founder Indira Cesarine.

The celebration marked the kickoff of Morrison Hotel Gallery’s public exhibition, opening October 22–26, 2025, at 116 Prince Street, where fans can view and purchase Rock’s Rocky Horror prints, books, and a limited-edition NYC-exclusive tote.

MICK ROCK’S ROCKY HORROR: A Behind the Scenes Look at the Cult Classic offers an unparalleled glimpse behind the lens of one of rock photography’s greats. The volume features rarely seen images alongside commentary by Rock, a foreword by Rocky Horror creator Richard O’Brien, and reflections from cultural icons including Billy Corgan, Courtney Love, Juliette Lewis, Joan Jett, Norman Reedus, Anna Sui, Betsey Johnson, John Varvatos, Arianne Phillips, Pierre La Roche, and Sue Blane. The book was written by award-winning author and editor Tim Mohr (1969–2025).

Through Rock’s intimate portraits of Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, and the ensemble that made The Rocky Horror Picture Show a phenomenon, the collection captures the precise moment drag, glam, and punk collided — a visual rebellion that continues to shape culture and fashion today.

Mick Rock’s Rocky Horror exhibition opens to the public October 22–26 at Morrison Hotel Gallery, 116 Prince Street, New York City. Visit www.morrisonhotelgallery.com for more information.
