Fendi celebrated its collaboration with French Designer Thierry Lasry for their special Spring/Summer 2015 Sunglasses Capsule Collection with “Midnight on Madison,” a cocktail event at the Fendi Madison Boutique at 598 Madison Avenue on the evening of March 26. The event was so named to convey “the mysterious and ambivalent magic of that very special time that is ‘midnight.’ Because we know only the really cool wear sunglasses at night. The event started late for a Thursday night storefront space, with 10pm cocktails a an 11pm performance, but that way it could be sure to touch upon that magic midnight hour.

Thierry Lasry and Leigh Lezark co-hosted the evening with a special performance by new band Lion Babe and a DJ set by the Misshapes, comprised of Leigh Lezark and Geordan Nichol. The artistic collaboration, along with the choice of talents, added a touch of downtown edginess to this uptown location and created a memorable surprise for participants. A special installation by Anna Karlin highlighted the Thierry Lasry for Fendi sunglass designs on the mezzanine floor of the boutique.

Guests included Laura Love, Hanneli Mustaparta, Tali Lennox, Giovanna Battaglia, Britt Maren, Johannes Huebl, Cleo Wade, Harry Brant, Peter Brant Jr., Amirah Kassem, Kel Markey, Lizzy Plapinger, Shanina Shayk, Josephine Skriver, Alexandra Agostin, Andreja Pejic, Becka Diamond, Kate Greer, Mijo Mihaljcic, Devon Windsor, Clair Westenberg, John Targon of Baja East, singer/songwriter Gabriel Day Lewis, photographer Chris Colls, bloggers Christina Caradona (Trop Rouge) and Charlotte Groeneveld(The Fashion Guitar), Cory Bond, Eli Mizrahi, artist Nir Hod, designers Yigal Azrouel and Jonathan Simkai, authors Tom Folsom & Lily Koppel, and Indira Cesarine of The Untitled Magazine.

The FENDI and Thierry Lasry Spring/Summer 2015 sunglasses capsule collection embodies an artistic approach with savoir faire and an extraordinary attention to detail and craftsmanship. The sunglasses patterns are inspired by graphic designs from the late 80s and early 90s which were specially selected by Silvia Venturini Fendi and Thierry Lasry from the FENDI archives. The two eyewear styles, called the Fanny and Sylvy, are developed in ultra-feminine shapes, their names recall the Dolce Vita period in Rome as well as Thierry Lasry’s signature touch with style names ending with a “Y.”
